Our History |
Ours begins with Owner Linda Hitchcock’s childhood fascination with quilts. She collected and sold antique quilts at national antique and craft shows for years. In November 1990, when there were only a handful of quilting shops in Western Washington, Linda opened a downtown Seattle shop, selling new and antique American-made quilts. In 1993, she expanded into a full-service fabric store adjacent to the historic Pike Place Market.

"When I was young, I can remember my mother and my grandmother exchanging pieces of their ‘scraps,’ small pieces of fabrics from their many sewing projects. My grandmother always had her quilting frame up in her bedroom, and it always had a quilt on it that she was quilting. She made a lot of quilts, probably 30 or more. We never slept under anything other than a quilt. My father passed away under a quilt made by my mother and one made by his mother. My grandmother made me two quilts. One, a Sunbonnet Sue quilt, when I was a child, and a wedding quilt, made from scraps from all of my clothes and hers." Undercover Quilts Owner Linda Hitchcock |
